Project “Immer noch” (“Yet”)

18.09.2024

The Center for Sports Science and University Sports at the University of Vienna (Departments of Sports Informatics and “Active Ageing”) is a partner in the “IMMER NOCH” project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research as part of the “Sparkling Science 2.0” program.

The project focuses on supportive measures to promote physical activities for visually impaired older people. It addresses the limited availability of movement materials and support systems and aims to break down barriers, reduce isolation and promote a sense of belonging. The planned measures include, for example, an accessible website for finding exercise partners in the region, adapted fitness videos with a specially transcoded audio track with exercise instructions for visually impaired people and the development of video and sensor-based feedback systems (e.g. AI-based pose estimation, intelligent fitness mats, cooperative exercise games). In close cooperation with technical school partners, innovative system approaches are to be researched and later implemented in the form of prototypes, which will then be tested and evaluated with partner organizations and citizen scientists.
