From the 17th until the 30th of July 2022 the European University Games will be taking place in Lodz, Poland's third largest city. Over 5000 students from 40 European countries will be attending this event to represent 400 different universities, competing for medals in the numerous subcategories of 20 different sports.
The Viennese universities will be accounting for 50 % of the entire Austrian delegation, bringing in 40 students from 5 separate universities. Out of all these athletes, 33 of them study directly at the University of Vienna.
The sports of 3v3 basketball, both for women and men, as well as in judo and swimming will be offering the greatest chances for winning a medal during these competitions.
The Centre for Sport Science and University Sports coordinates and finances the Vienna university team in close cooperation with the University Sports Institute of Vienna and Unisport Austria. The head of the Centre for Sport Science and University Sports, Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Arnold Baca, and the delegation coordinators are looking forward to an exciting EU Games and wish the delegation much success.
